Full Synopsis
In the small, western town of Lively Hope, it is time for the annual harvest festival. The townsfolk have been diligently preparing and they believe this year's harvest will be one for the record books, describing it as the "harvest of the century." Everyone is prepared to help harvest the crops, and they expect many visitors for the festivities. The store owners and town officials are ready with open arms.
Marcus and Emma Dooey own the local general store. Like all residents of Lively Hope, they are positive, hard-working folks who cherish the tight-knit community where they live. They are always trying to shine their light and not just talk the talk but walk the walk.
A few days before the harvest, a new family, the Sayers, arrive in town. Marcus and Emma Dooey welcome them but soon realize there's a bit of trouble. The father, Nathan Sayer, is negative and always complaining. He tries to get his wife, Nancy, and children to see the ugly side of things and doesn't try to befriend the Dooey's or anyone else.
The Sayers have moved from town to town, never settling or making friends. Nathan makes that nearly impossible with his bad attitude! But his wife, Nancy, believes Lively Hope is the perfect place for their family to settle down. She realizes her children need to make friends and stay in one place and she can see the good stuff Lively Hope has to offer.
On the day of the festival, the townsfolk open their shops after working very hard to get them ready for the day. Everyone is all set to harvest crops and excitement is in the air. The Sayers must go to town to buy supplies for their homestead. When they arrive, they are kindly greeted by several store owners and town officials. Nathan Sayer is rude and negative to everyone, but his wife Nancy has finally had enough. She begins to make a change toward the positive. She befriends Emma Dooey and helps her children do the same with the Dooey kids.
Nathan is very upset his family is not supporting his thoughts, attitude, and actions. He doesn't want to help with the harvest, nor does he want to be around anyone in town. He storms off. Meanwhile, Nancy Sayer and the Sayer children roll up their sleeves and begin to help with the harvest.
Suddenly, a great storm arises, spawning tornadoes that rip through the town, destroying crops, businesses, and structures. The people of Lively Hope take shelter. Nathan watches the events unfold. Soon after the tornadoes are over, Lively Hope's residents begin to show what is truly inside of their hearts...hope, happiness, peace, trust, and love.
They pick up the pieces, talk about the Lord's blessings, and shine their light in their darkest hour. This ends up melting Nathan Sayer's cold heart, allowing him to find his own hope. He apologizes to Marcus, Emma, and the townsfolk for his ill behavior. He and Nancy decide to permanently stay in Lively Hope.
