Full Synopsis

It's Thanksgiving Day at the Perkins home and Lucy Perkins is a curious young lady. She asks her Grandpa Joe about an old tradition the family had involving a very special book. Grandpa Joe reminisces about the tradition called the Perkins Christmas Kickoff. Lucy has the idea of bringing it back and finds her Grandma Jean to tell her about the plan and ask for the book. The family gathers, and the grandparents begin reading the story called "The Greatest Gift."

In the book, the accounts of multiple people happen simultaneously, ultimately leading to a grand gathering in a lowly stable.

The tale begins in Nazareth at the home of Joseph and Mary, who receive a scroll from Caesar Augustus telling them they need to travel to Bethlehem. Mary is very pregnant and worried about taking such a long trip. Joseph reassures her and they get ready to make the journey with their trusty donkey, Gus.

Meanwhile, Bethlehem is buzzing with crowds of people arriving for the census. At the Bethlehem Bright Star Inn, inn keepers, Caleb and Adina, along with the inn's caretaker, Aaron, are rushing about preparing for their guests. The inn is almost at full capacity and there is much work to be done.

Outside of the city, Shepherds Jesse, Gabe, and Leah, have come up with the plan to herd their flock of sheep to higher ground due to predators being in the area. Just days before, jackals attacked the flock, injuring three sheep, which are now recuperating in the stable at the Bethlehem Bright Star Inn. Jesse and Leah are entertained by the light-heartedness and constant stream of jokes coming from Gabe.

In Heaven, the lead angel, Arabella, is leading choir rehearsal with her team of angels. They must be ready for the birth of the new baby. Angel Ezra has never been on a mission before and is apprehensive about the plan, hoping he doesn't miss his cue. The other heavenly hosts, Bartholomew, Felix, and Hannah are excited and bolster Ezra's confidence.

Far away in the east, three wise men, Balt, Mel, and Gaz, know a very special baby will soon be born. They look to the skies, waiting to see the sign of a northern star. As they anticipate the grand event, plans are made to bring the young prince gifts to honor him.

Joseph and Mary arrive in Bethlehem, going directly to the Bethlehem Bright Star Inn, only to learn there are no rooms available. The inn keepers offer them a warm place in their stable. It is here the newborn arrives. In this moment, the angels descend upon the hills outside of Bethlehem to deliver the message of the baby's birth to the shepherds. Jesse, Gabe, and Leah rush into the city of Bethlehem to ask the inn keepers if they know of a baby who was recently born and placed in a manger. Aaron tells them Joseph and Mary's child has arrived and is lying in a manger. Is this a coincidence? Of course not! They rush to the stable.

Soon after, the wise men see the north star shining brightly above them and know the young prince has arrived. They promptly make their way to Bethlehem.

Everyone has gathered to worship and celebrate the young one. In that moment they realize this is a momentous occasion but have no idea the impact it will have on their lives and on the world. Jesus' birth is the greatest gift ever given to mankind.
